Obama announces plans for geothermal and solar energy
US President Barack Obama has announced his plans to accelerate the development, deployment, and usage of geothermal and solar energy.
This huge $467 million investment will be coming primarily from the American Reinvestment and Recovery Act. It’s meant to help the geothermal and solar industries develop new technologies as well as provide support for alternative energy jobs in the future years. The new plan fits well with the Obama administration’s “clean energy economy” strategy.
The plan is actually quite detailed, with the two main types of energy being divided into sub-categories, each receiving specific funds. As an example, $26 million will be used for “solar energy deployment” and $40 million will go towards “solar power R&D”.
The president expressed his hope that this plan will not only create jobs and help the environment, but will improve America’s view around the world. His vision is for the US to be the top exporter of clean energy in the world.

This is awesome news! It’s great to see the government finally changing its views on the environment. The last 8 years under Bush “The Dictator Of Fear” were extremely disappointing.
